Columbus Division of Water and Power is working to upgrade all water meters with "smart" models that provide real-time leak detection and usage updates. This upgrade is mandatory. You will be contacted by the Division of Water and Power to arrange an installation date. If you (or your landlord) does not schedule the installation, your water will be shut off.

Some installers have accidentally flooded basements, causing signficant water damage. You must be home for the install. Make sure that the installer knows where your street shutoff valve is located, and can turn off that valve before replacing the meter.

Columbus is working to remove all lead pipes from the public water system. Residents must take a couple of quick steps to test their water line, to determine whether replacement is needed.

Columbia Gas is installing a new major transmission pipeline for natural gas in Columbus, crossing through North LInden. This action is 

Reducing pollution in Columbus' rivers will require diverting water from the combined storm/sewer system. Columbus is fixing leaking sewer lines in houses, building new storm drains, building rain gardens to hold water in the immediate aftermath of heavy rainfall, and upgrading street parking with pavers to et water filter slowly into the ground instead of running into storm drains.

Zero deaths and serious injuries on Columbus streets by 2035 is the goal. The steps along the way will require significant upgrades to Columbus' roads, and significant changes in how we move around Columbus.

The City of Columbus is rewriting its zoning code from scratch, and updating its land-use recommendations for the first time since 2018. The new zoning code aims to facilitate more housing, supported by more neighborhood-scale retail, and more-walkable neighborhoods
